MARHAM - Digitizing healthcare!!!

When Plato said, "Necessity is the mother of invention", he was not just giving out a cliché one-liner for people to quote, but to create an ideology of self-help and motivation. Marham is a platform created to revolutionize the healthcare system for the generation that runs on smartphones and the internet at the ease of their homes.

The Co-founder of Marham, Ehsan Imam also struggled with terrible situations and tough decisions, until he decided to achieve a bigger goal than his job and career.

The idea of Marham was born when the Co-founder Ehsan Imam tried all he could to find an appropriate doctor's appointment for his father whose health was compromised. The struggle of booking an appointment depressed him to the core and to his dismay, he was unsuccessful. The pain and worry to go through it again if anything happens in his family made him realize he could achieve a future where nobody has to go through that, ever. He left his job and career and became passionate to work on an initiative where patients could get in direct contact with the doctors, and not just doctors who make money off of the weak, but LEGIT real practicing doctors.

It didn't take him long enough to realize how many people were willing to work in this initiative with him and how many people of similar mindsets were out there, who were ready to do something out of pure goodwill and enthusiasm which could change the entire face of the Healthcare industry of Pakistan.

With the help and support of his previous employers, the Vice President of Confiz, Ehsan Imam began to set up and equip his office and started to grow. The first Few people who joined him in this journey of revolution were Farwa Ali and Asma Omer, as marketer and designer respectively, who both refused to take any salary.  It amazed Ehsan, to see people have such passion for helping others and willing to work without the promise of monetary gains.

In case you haven’t heard of Marham before, it’s an online platform designed to help people find health services faster and more efficiently without having a doubt factor of misdiagnosis or mistreatment. Marham initiated through a facebook page where an interactive online community shared their experiences and suggested each other reliable doctors. Many Doctors also connected with the people directly through this platform.

Marham has now an app available for web, iOs and Android through which users can:

·      ·      Find doctors near them relevant to a specific disease or specialty

·        Discuss confusions and topics with the Marham community on Facebook or the integrated web forum
·        Share the information of doctors with friends or family through SMS, Whatsapp or social networks
·        Help refine the database by requesting to add new data or reporting if any doctor's information is incorrect.
     ·  Through Marham, not only can doctors register themselves but people can share their feedback which will help others in finding a suitable doctor for themselves.

Marham is a product of a lot of hard work of different people based just on their goodwill and the idea of revolutionizing the healthcare system of Pakistan.

“We are working on a lot of other much needed features currently which involve hospital services, labs for testing, rate comparison, symptom checker, blood donation and more; we need all the support we can get” – Ehsan Imam, Co-Founder Marham.

If you stand with Marham and believe in the movement, please download the application and spread the word about it, since it can help people in quite a big way. I went through a great deal of pain to realize how important it is to get an appropriate doctor, and in a way, Marham did save me.
